I, Vampire #1

Let’s just say the word we’re all thinking right now: Twilight. There it is.

Many people may think that this series wouldn’t be getting revamped (har har) and relaunched if not for the popularity of the Twilight series, and the other supernatural crap that the kids these days are so into. And after reading it, I’ve gotta say…that’s pretty spot-on.

I wanted to like this. I was hoping my expectations were wrong, and this would be something really cool and interesting. Instead, it seems a lot like I imagine the Twilight books to be: a lot of whining and romance with the word “vampire” thrown in.

But hey, it’s clearly not meant for me. It’s meant to be a “gateway drug” for teens, to get them interested in reading comics. And I applaud that, just like I (grudgingly) applaud the Twilight books for getting teens interested in reading novels.

I think the artwork is great, and it’s not like there’s nothing¬†interesting about this book. It’s not poorly-written or anything. It’s just doing stuff I’m not interested in. If it sounds interesting to you, go ahead and try it out.

Verdict: It’s the only New 52 book I didn’t like.
